Recommendation quizzes usually hide their logic, which is how affiliate sites launder "whoever pays us most" into "your perfect match". Ours has no affiliate relationships and nothing to hide, so here's the entire scoring system — argue with it, and if you win, email us and we'll change it.
Each answer awards 1–3 points to relevant marketplaces; your two highest totals win. Three points means "this channel is built for exactly this"; one point means "credible option". The heaviest weights sit on question one (what you sell) and question two (how buyers find it) because those are the least changeable facts about your selling — fees and effort you can adapt, but you can't make eBay buyers browse like NOTHS buyers.
Handmade defaults to Etsy (3) over Folksy (2) purely on audience size; fee-sensitivity answers pull Folksy up. Vintage furniture goes hard to Vinterior (3) then Facebook Marketplace (2) — the £500+ answer stretches that gap because curated buyers pay curated prices, while the "local" answer flips it because sideboards hate couriers. TikTok Shop scores only from the content answer — its 9% fee is fine but irrelevant if you won't film; we deliberately never recommend it to people who didn't say "content". NOTHS needs both "gifts" and "pay for audience" signals before it surfaces, because recommending a 30%-commission, application-only channel to a fee-sensitive clearer-outer would be malpractice.
Whether your photography suits a curated marketplace; whether your category is saturated on the recommended channel this month; whether you'd actually enjoy making TikToks (this matters more than any fee); and your real numbers. That last one is fixable: every recommendation links the relevant fee calculator, and the comparator puts all the stacks on your actual price. Treat the picker as a shortlist generator, the calculators as the evidence, and your own first month of sales as the verdict.
Scoring reflects our verified fee research, August 2026. Not affiliated with any marketplace; no affiliate links. Not financial advice.
